5-27  16:30.  A tricolored blackbird sits near a nesting colony on the edge of a Tulelake National Wildlife Refuge walking  wetland.  The  tricolored blackbird's deeper scarlet shoulder patches edged in white differs from the more common red-winged blackbird's buff edged patches. The tricolored blackbird can breed in Tulelake, testimony to the area's vibrant habitats.
