Fishing.  The peak salmon run was in 1912. At that time there were 3 canneries on or near the estuary. In those days the river was heavily fished and there were no limits on anyone's fishing activities.  The Klamath fishery went into a major decline in the 1920's. The historic Requa Inn was built in 1914.  Today its clientele enjoy the redwoods and fishing.
