The Trinity Valley. This beautiful and isolated valley is surround by the jagged Trinity Alps. The Alps are part of the Klamath Mountains and rise to 9,000 feet. Their tops are made of granites that are molten rocks uplifted to the surface. The coastal ranges, to the west, are made up of layers of ocean floors. This is a dynamic landscape. Lush forests of fir, pine and cedar cover these hills.  Here, the Wintu hunted, fished and gathered. Clair Engle Lake.
