It's a Water World. The Trinity River's seasonal runs of Salmon and Steelhead are legendary. This is also home to great Rainbow and German Brown Trout fishing. Chinook (King) Salmon come in two waves: the spring/summer run, and the fall run. Coho Salmon follow in the late fall. Steelhead also have two runs that follow the Chinook. All runs are timed to take advantage of the Spring snowmelt, and Winter rains. The flushing action of these flows deposits loose gravels
on the river bottom. Here, the fish spawn. Large tributaries; Canyon Creek, North Fork and New River, add free-flowing water that provide natural flushing action below Junction City.
